M13: Honouring Reconciliation: A Learning Journey

Log in to save this to your schedule and see who's attending!

In 2017, the West Vancouver Memorial Library received a Canada 150 Community Fund grant specifically “to plan and implement activities and events to honour the experiences of Indigenous people in Canada, to facilitate community learning and to promote understanding of our shared history.” This marked the beginning of the Library's ongoing Honouring Reconciliation initiative to expand understanding of local Indigenous history, the impacts of colonialism and its ongoing effects on Indigenous peoples. In this session, we will discuss the work involved in developing and implementing the Honouring Reconciliation events; share the challenges and positive outcomes that we encountered; and explore how the Honouring Reconciliation activities affected the organization and community.
