M5: Renovation Refresh: Embracing the Change Challenge

In 2018, Douglas College received approval for renovating our New Westminster campus library starting in the summer of 2019.  In addition to functional improvements to our library infrastructure the College committed funds to support a design refresh complete with a new service desk, space zoning, furnishings, and signage.  With over 8,000 FTE students and a collection of 160,000 monographs it has been exciting and daunting to plan for and scope out the transition of staff and services to new temporary spaces, all with the aim of providing continuity of service and collection access.  Come to this session to learn about how we've worked through the challenges of planning and coordinating our reno to date and what's next.
